This makes defrag 1.91.20:
- fixed ghost missiles emitting sound in ioq3
- respawnpoint selection kept across map_restart's and reset on team change
- fixed df_hud_cgaz value clamped to 3 in options menus
- removed unused "scores" server command that was sent when player dies
- fixed execution of df_script_onMapLoad scripts on team change
- added df_script_onJoinTeam (0/1) - executes team_free.cfg, team_spect.cfg, team_red.cfg, team_blue.cfg
- restored the "connection lost" icon over players' head
- added failsafe for dedicated servers so the server cannot be made inaccessible by setting up a single-player mode
- added df_hud_frameTransparency

5 Minute timelimit function
Hey,
You know what would be an AWSOME function,
a 5 minute timelimit like they have in trackmania
you could have some fun competing and have fun setting a decent time within a limited time. Promoting creativity and routefinding ad hoc (ASAP).
maybe even add a semi-lame ladder function for giggles like in trackmania haha, but that's for way future maybe hehe :p
The core is to add some competition and exitement without the frustration of being on a map improving that one frame for 2+ hours :)
Along with a nice map rotating system, maybe on map sort (like a jukebox maybe like in AGAIN trackmania :\...)
I think there's alot of people who would really enjoy this function, and ofcourse the old style of defrag should definately stay on most servers, but maybe change one for this :D
See what you do with it, just some ideas :)

1.92 has some form of map
1.92 has some form of map rotation and brings back timelimits. As far as future releases go I'd like some new gamemodes that don't make you /kill yourself and restart every two attempts. New features have been crawling though, due to a simple lack of time.

Lag/pausing/framedrop
Hi Mister,
when I shoot a rocket and place another rocket exactly into the first rocket -e.g. for a triplerocketjump- the game "pauses" for some ms. Its not a real pause since the game still runs and only shows me the same screen for some ms, its more like some frames are getting droped. I never got this a second time in a game after it happened once.
Sorry, I don't know since which version of Defrag-Mod or Defrag-Engine this bug -if its really Defrag related- happens.

Huge demo files
Recorded demo files are getting huge in my current map. Filesize is app. 1mb \ 10 sec !
There are few maps where i have this problem.

Defrag sets the sv framerate to 125, which generates large numbers of snapshots that in turn get into the demofile. In most situations delta compression should be quite effective at coping with high framerates.
Demo pruning
I noticed that my demos folder was piling up quite a bit. And I made a similar post on the opc forum and got 2 different demo pruners to delete all but the best times on each map and in each mode and physics. However, they didn't support the speedcapture demo naming format.
This is not your concern of course, but my problem now still remains. But even if it didn't and my demos folder would be 97% smaller, I would still say that this would be a nice feature to exist as an implementation rather than a stand-alone program. Either as an additional df_autorecord value that deletes the previous demo on the fly if a better time was set, and just like mode 3, does not save a demo with worse time than the current best.
This seems like a much nicer alternative to me, but I guess you could add some command in defrag that performs the classic demo pruning. For both demo naming formats of course! :D

Mods are quite restricted in what they can do. I could only add this feature in the engine - not defrag.
Actually I'm just thinking it would be a lot easier with a simple perl script - perl's especially good with this sort of things. Although that works only for linux.

It's great that you work with Defrag so actively; But how come simple, missing features like autodownload and a checkpoint chsinfo are still missing after all my nagging? :( :p
autodownload
autodownload is an engine feature so the Defrag gamecode isn't involved.
You may try alternative engines (like ioq3) if you want to benefit from this feature ^^

Well your nagging isn't good enough (!).
It's quite simple really. I work on defrag in a pretty disrupted way that depends on work, life, and other projects I have at times. It's doesn't necessarily make much sense. The plan originally was to get 1.92 out shortly but this requires much effort and I haven't been able to funnel that much lately. So I'm sticking to spitting out fixes for 1.91, which in itself requires a lot of attention already.
Defrag is a bit daunting, especially since I'm nothing like a player and it may take time just to figure things out. Besides there's much history and, in that sense, inertia. I'm nothing like gaz and his hackish interest and advanced knowledge of q3 physics, nor ozone and his vision of tricks-jumping, programming skills and rigorous work habits. Nothing like moomin and his dedication to the community, either.
I was part of the very first dev team and my involvement was coincidental - I just happened to be there. I've always had a quite noobish view as to what was going on. I'm a bit like Id (not that I intend the comparison as a form of boasting) - I like developping software but I don't have much clue as to what works for a player and what, actually, does not.
I've been considering involving other people again lately, so defrag gets some momentum, but that alone isn't a simple decision.
As far as your actual request, checkpoints need more attention and the internals are going to change. I'm especially displeased with this part of the code.
Autodownload requires a bit of experimenting with the q3 networking. It's on the list when I get back to coding for the dfengine.

Yeah, I know and admire what you do for the community! I'm not sure why autodownload requires experimenting with the q3 networking though. We already have /download; why can't it just check the map at "Awaiting gamestate" and then /download (like the normal autodownload)?

I knew that m00m had left for his family a while back, and o3j sort of slacked off and kept it that way (I don't know really though, sry :P), but I never really thought about that you were rowing the boat on your own right now. I am really not trying to kiss ass here, but I want to commend your valiant efforts as of lately with the numerous updates and fixes for the current defrag. And I bet we will see some fruitful results soon enough in the form of new and stable version numbers! :) (perhaps even a non-beta :>)
P.S. the math question isn't really challenging anymore, I noticed that it's the same question every time! xD

Well, it's not just that. Dev'ing takes significant amounts of time - let alone keeping tracking of whatever is going on with defrag. Funneling one hour here and there simply isn't sufficient for any kind of consistent effort. We used to have a lot more time at our disposal - we used to be young and carefree :p Admittedly It's crawling helplessly at the moment due to a simple matter of time.

Quake 3 Arena already supports auto download.
If you want to use this build-in feature for Defrag you need to write a little patch for the server because Defrag servers usually have repacked pk3s.

When I trigger a door to open (eg in the beginning of the new undeadcomp), finish the map and die (not with map_restart 0 but with a mouseclick after dying) the door is still open. Don't know if I have to finish the map for this. I don't think so but that was the way I found out about it.
